What ages are the Strive USA Selection Trials for?

Our trials are open to high school-aged basketball players currently in Years 9–12.

What exactly do you evaluate during trials?

We assess basketball fundamentals, athleticism, coachability, and competitive mindset. It's not just about current skill level - we're looking for players who show potential, work ethic, and the ability to handle elite competition. No strict height or statistical requirements.

How long do trials last and what should we expect?

Accepted Answer

Trials run approximately 1.5 hours  where our coaches will do skill assessments, scrimmage play, and individual evaluation. Players should come prepared to compete, bring water, and wear appropriate basketball gear. We create a competitive but supportive environment. We'll  end with a tour seminar where we explain the complete program.

When will we find out if  selected?

80% of trial participants receive feedback within 2-3 days.

What if we can't make it to any trial locations?

Accepted Answer

You can submit recent game footage for evaluation if you cannot attend in-person trials. While we prefer live evaluation, we understand geographic limitations and will consider video submissions with detailed game context.

Can parents watch the trials?

Parents are welcome to observe trials, though we ask that you allow coaches to work with players without sideline coaching. This helps us evaluate how players respond to instruction and handle pressure independently.

Is there a cost to attend trials?

Trial participation fees vary by location and are listed when you register. This small fee helps to cover facility costs and our coach travelling to your location. The trial fee is separate from tour costs and is required regardless of selection outcome.

Does attending a trial guarantee selection?

Accepted Answer

No. Strive is a performance-based selection program. Attending a trial gives our coaching staff the opportunity to evaluate each athlete for a potential position within our touring teams.

What happens if I am selected?

Accepted Answer

Selected athletes and their families will receive further information regarding the program, inclusions, expectations and next steps following the selection process via email.
